Can you give a family home to a 'retired' pet?

CAN you offer a good home to a 'low maintenance' pet?

The Retired Greyhound Trust (RGT) has around 47 greyhounds in its kennels, aged between two and 14.

Retired greyhounds very rarely bark and prefer to spend most of the day curled up asleep.

Paul Clark, RGT spokesman, said: "These lovable dogs are becoming increasingly popular as pets, as people realise that they require very little exercise and have already outgrown puppy problems but can still live to be 13 or 14 years old."

Two such dogs are Morris and Joe.

Morris is a seven year old fawn and brindle dog who is delightful and pleasant. He walks easily on the lead and would be ideally suited to a quiet family home or a retired person.

Joe is a four-year-old brindle coloured dog, who is active and loves all the fuss and attention he can get.

He gets on well with older children, loves to play and go for walk and is a first class family dog.
